The Power of Human Connection

Consumer Care
Sherrie Dunlevy
Founder | Graduating Grief

Technology is advancing mankind, yet it’s creating a generation that struggles to communicate beyond a keyboard. This breakdown in communication contributes to feelings of disconnection at home, work, and in life. What’s causing this disconnect, and how can we strengthen the skills to improve both personally and professionally? In this presentation, Sherrie Dunlevy explores the root of the problem, linking much of it to loneliness and grief, and shares strategies to help you feel more connected while making others feel valued, heard, and understood.

The Value of Viewing – Marketta's Legacy

Technical Skills
Amanda King, CFSP, MBIT
Embalmer and Funeral Director | Bailey Family Funeral Homes, Frigid Fluid Co

This presentation will cover the full process of cranial reconstruction for viewing, using the real-life case of Marketta, an eight-year-old girl who tragically passed away from severe facial and head trauma. We will explore both the technical aspects of reconstruction and the importance of interpersonal dynamics between the funeral home, the trade reconstructionist, and the family. The session will focus on effective communication strategies, guiding families through the restorative process, and providing support during the initial viewing. We’ll also discuss the “child-centric” approach taken by Marketta’s parents, who sought to shape their children’s perception of death through their funeral decisions. In a spirit of generosity, they advocate sharing Marketta’s reconstruction to help other families view their loved ones, even in the most difficult circumstances.

Our image is defined by how we interact with existing customers and their guests, often reflecting what they say and think about us.
